
Alan Goldberg AO QC graduated in law, LLB (Hons) from the University of Melbourne in 1962 and with an LLM degree from Yale University in 1964. He commenced practice as a barrister in Melbourne, Australia in 1965 and was appointed a Queen's Counsel in 1978. He practiced widely in the commercial, corporate, administrative, constitutional and competition areas of legal practice.
Alan was appointed a Judge of the Federal Court of Australia in February 1997 and retired from that Court in July 2010. Over the years he has held a number of positions, including:
- President, Victorian Council for Civil Liberties
- Director, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra
- President, Australian Competition Tribunal
