No Legal Frontiers (NLF)

NGO Monitor
  • Website: http://nolegalfrontiers.org
  • Completely non-transparent. No contact information, list of key officials, or funding information available on the website.
  • Funded by: the UK (£30,000 in 2010-11, “To a) develop a website containing applicable and updated laws and military orders, translated and uploaded in Hebrew, Arabic and English and b) upload a report on the functioning of juvenile military courts”);according to the NLF 2010 financial report, the single donation received that year was 166,105 NIS from the British embassy in Israel. The group is also funded by the Heinrich Böll Siftung, a project of the German Green Party.
  • Established in 2009, NLF engages in legal and political advocacy and claims to strive “for a legal system without discrimination in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.”
  • Attempts to alter Israeli policy through “legislative change relating to the population of the OPT.” Specific legislative proposals have not been made public. There is no indication that NLF officials are professionally qualified to make legal claims or issue policy recommendations.
  • Susan Lourenco and Sarah Kliachko, Machsom Watch activists, are listed by the Rasham Amutot as co-founders of NLF.
  • Appears to be a project of Machsom Watch.
  • As of February 2012, most items on its website’s newsfeed are taken from Defence for Children International-Palestine Section (DCI-PS). The relationship between DCI-PS and NLF are unclear.
  • The single report released by the group is titled “All Guilty: Observations in the Military Juvenile Court, April 2010-March 2011.”
