BADIL was admitted to consultative status with the Economic and Social Council at the UN on 24th January, following a failed effort in 2005. Badil was given "special status" while representatives of the , , and dissociated themselves from the decision because of the charity’s position on "equating Zionism with racism", and how it "openly supported terrorism and glorified suicide bombers as martyrs."
