"EU NGO "Peace" Projects that Fuel Conflict" Gerald Steinberg, European Jewish Press May 05, 2006
In a number of important aspects, European policy on Israel has become both more moral and realistic in the past year. The cash transfers to the Palestinian Authority have stopped, and the link to corruption was investigated, (albeit, in secret, while the EU preaches transparency to others).
"Playing Russian Roulette with Human Rights" Alex Margolin, IsraelInsider.com April 27, 2006
If human rights groups genuinely uphold universal principles, why do they ignore the most basic right of Israeli civilians: the right to life?
A group of six Israeli and Palestinian "human rights" NGOs did just that last week when they petitioned Israel´s High Court to reverse the IDF´s decision to reduce the "safety zone" for Palestinians who fire Kassam rockets at Israel...
"Human rights´ Groups such as Amnesty International are Part of the Problem, not the Solution" Israel Kasnett, Ynetnews.com April 25, 2006
On March 15, 2006, the network of powerful non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that includes Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch , joined with recidivist human rights abusers such as Sudan and Libya to support the U.N.´s new Human Rights Council ... "Examining European Funding for Radical NGOs" Gerald M. Steinberg, The Jerusalem Post April 20, 2006
The quick and unqualified condemnation of the Palestinian terror attack in Tel Aviv by European officials demonstrates the majo improvement that has taken place in relations with Israel. In contrast, a few years ago, then Commissioner Chris Patten and other European officials routinely condemned Israel for acting to prevent terror, and Euro?MPs threatened boycotts... "The Anti-Semitism of the Presbyterian Church, USA" Diana Appelbaum, The American Thinker March 24, 2006
With the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church USA scheduled to convene in June for the first time since the 2004 GA passed a notorious anti-Israel divestment resolution, supporters and detractors of divestment are discussing whether the Church’s decision was anti-Semitic, or – somehow - anti-Israel without being anti-Semitic. Curiously, despite the storm caused by the divestment vote, most Presbyterians remain unaware of the extent to which the PCUSA leadership has involved itself in old-fashioned theological anti-Semitism... "The Human Rights Charade at the UN" Joseph Laconte and Niles Gardiner, The Boston Globe March 22, 2006
The tragedy of the latest United Nations effort to reform its discredited Human Rights Commission, approved last week by the General Assembly, is not that it´s a breathtaking defense of the status quo. It surely appears to be... "Challenging the NGO Mythology" Gerald M. Steinberg, The Jerusalem Post March 11, 2006
For years well-connected groups that claim human rights as their agenda have been bombarding the Israeli courts (and media) with allegations of abuses primarily involving the IDF. Israeli officials have mostly ignored these non-governmental organizations (NGOs), allowing their radical political agendas and selective reporting based on "Palestinian eye-witnesses" to go unchallenged...
"Exposing the Myths of Human Rights NGOs" Gerald Steinberg, Makor Rishon March 10, 2006
"The Radicals Behind the Anglican Church" Sarah Mandel, The Jerusalem Post February 26, 2006
Last week, British chief rabbi Jonathan Sacks came out strongly against the Church of England for its vote for "morally responsible investment" (MRI) in Israel (a.k.a. divestment). In response church leaders stated that the vote was merely advisory... "Funding NGOs is No Solution" Gerald M. Steinberg, The Jerusalem Post February 11, 2006
The ascendance of Hamas in the Palestinian legislative elections has highlighted the difficulties resulting from the massive "development" funding provided by foreign donors. For years, the international community has been funneling vast sums to the Palestinian Authority, hoping for a magical transformation leading to economic growth, self-sufficiency and even peace...
