In sharp contrast to Dutch government policy, direct and indirect funding supports NGOs that are active in BDS campaigns. In their response to this report, the Dutch Foreign Minister and State-Secretary of Foreign Affairs indicated that failure to end these activities may result in a cessation of funding.
ICCO and Cordaid, which receive millions of euros from the Dutch government, fund some of the most radical NGOs active in the Arab-Israeli conflict - including groups that are active in anti-Israel BDS.
In addition to misrepresenting UN General Assembly Resolution 194, which does not mandate a wholesale "right of return" as alleged, the NGOs completely disregard the Jewish refugees from Arab countries who were driven from their homes following the establishment of the State of Israel.
NIF-funded groups and their publications were featured centrally in the Goldstone report. Many of these citations referred to speculative issues unrelated to the conflict in Gaza, seeking to brand Israeli democracy as repressive. BTselem, Adalah, ACRI, Gisha, PHR-I, and Yesh Din have continued supporting Goldstone and lobbying governments to legitimize the reports extreme biases and endorse its recommendations. Some NIF grantees campaign against the legitimacy of Israel as a Jewish democratic state. Others are active in worldwide boycotts, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) campaigns targeting Israel.
