Partial list of Israeli NGOs that receive foreign government funding. Due to a lack of transparency in and discrepancies between reports by governments and NGOs, this table is incomplete and the numbers are approximate.
Prof. Gerald Steinberg explains that European governments support political advocacy in Israel without accountability, and that "transparency is the main issue."
The Russell Tribunal Cape Town session was a total failure; none of its stated objectives was achieved. Behind the legal faade of neutrality and credibility were biased witnesses and jurors who had prejudged Israels guilt.
In sharp contrast to Dutch government policy, direct and indirect funding supports NGOs that are active in BDS campaigns. In their response to this report, the Dutch Foreign Minister and State-Secretary of Foreign Affairs indicated that failure to end these activities may result in a cessation of funding.
NGOs, including NIF-funded ACRI, B'Tselem, and others, are utilizing the proceedings at the United Nations as a platform for advancing arguments in favor of legal attacks ("lawfare") against Israel and for prejudging Israeli responses to violent demonstrations.
Approximately 26% of NIF's 2010 funding ($4.3 million) went to highly politicized groups involved to varying degrees in delegitimization campaigns. The 2010 grants do not reflect any apparent changes or implementation of NIF guidelines.
Goldstones Washington Post op-ed, retracting the substance of the UNHRC Goldstone Report, undermines the credibility of the NGOs that provided the false allegations. In response, NGOs and NGO officials have issued numerous statements distorting and rewriting Goldstones words, in an effort to preserve their credibility.
In response to Judge Richard Goldstones landmark article in the Washington Post, in which he retracted the main allegations of the "Goldstone Report," watchdog group NGO Monitor calls on the NGOs that were his main sources to withdraw and revise their discredited claims.
