On May 27, 2021, the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) convened a special session on Israel to discuss “violations” allegedly committed by Israel since April 13, 2021 relating to Sheikh Jarrah, Gaza, Temple Mount and Al-Aqsa Mosque, and mixed Israeli cities.
Like many misnomers about international law and Israel, distortions regarding proportional responses to aggression are central to NGO political advocacy campaigns that exploit legal rhetoric for demonization.
On April 15, 2021, Representative Betty McCollum (D-MN) introduced the “U.S. Commitment to the Universal Human Rights of Palestinians Living Under Israeli Military Occupation Act.” This is McCollum’s third such bill in recent years – written in conjunction with anti-Israel NGOs, and meant to advance BDS and demonization of Israeli companies and defense forces.
The German Federal Government provides millions of euros to NGOs operating in Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza through a variety of frameworks, including the Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the German Federal Foreign Office (MFA-AA), and the United Nations.

The 2017-2021 Joint Strategic Framework for Belgian aid to Palestinians, coordinated by Oxfam Solidarity, M3M, SolSoc and APEFE, commits its signatories to promoting a variety of anti-Israel campaigns, through advocacy and lobbying in Belgium and the EU.
In 2011-2018, the EU authorized grants of at least €25 million to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with ties to EU-designated terrorist groups.
Save the Children and Watchlist on Children and Armed Conflict again published reports as part of the ongoing political campaigns to demonize Israel and have Israel included on a UN blacklist of “grave” violators of children’s rights. In the process, neither NGO applies the accepted UN definitions of what constitutes such violations, and the reports reflect major methodological shortcomings.
