Background on World Council of Churches, Antisemitism, and BDS Court Case

Today (October 11, 2018), an Israeli court is considering an appeal from Isabel Phiri, a senior official in the World Council of Churches (WCC) who was denied entry into Israel. NGO Monitor is providing the following essential background on WCC and its “flagship project” Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI), which falls under Phiri’s “overall responsibility.”

European Union Funding for “Accountability” Against IDF Soldiers

In November 2017, the EU approved a four-year grant to an Israeli legal NGO, Yesh Din, for a project designed to increase “Israeli security forces personnel (ISFP) accountability for forcible home entries in line with democratic standards and international humanitarian and human rights law.” Yesh Din is carrying out these efforts in partnership with Breaking the Silence and Physicians for Human Rights-Israel (PHR-I).

The Exploitation of Palestinian Women’s Rights NGOs

This report provides background on the situation of women and women’s groups within Palestinian society. The report analyses the highly restrictive and coercive civil space and provides an overview of Palestinian female role models, the vast majority of whom are celebrated for their participation in violent “resistance.” The report also looks at the role of the international community in perpetuating this state of affairs, whether through funding of radical Palestinian NGOs, or through granting international legitimacy to these groups in multilateral forums such as the UN.

French Funding to anti-French and anti-Israel Propaganda by UJFP

In October 2017, Union Juive Française pour la Paix (UJFP) released a series of ten video clips “Paroles juives contre le racisme” (“Jewish words against racism”). The videos feature highly incendiary remarks against the State of Israel, Zionism, and France. UJFP is active in discriminatory and illegal (according to the Court of Cassation) anti-Israel BDS (boycotts, divestment, and sanctions) campaigns in France and is a member of the Platform of the French NGOs for Palestine.

On UK Outsourcing of Foreign Policy to B’Tselem and Norwegian Refugee Council: Evidence from FOI Requests

In response to a Freedom of Information (FOI) request initiated by NGO Monitor, the British Foreign Commonwealth Office (FCO) released a series of emails with the Israeli NGO B’Tselem. Heavy redaction notwithstanding, the emails reveal warm, frequent contact between the Israeli NGO and the British government, as well as extensive lobbying efforts on the part of B’Tselem.

Yesh Din is an Israeli non-governmental organization (NGO) that leads campaigns regarding legal issues in the Israeli justice system, including Israeli investigations into alleged crimes by both security forces and settlers in the West Bank. The following study analyzes and compares their claims regarding “ideologically motivated crimes” and Israeli “investigative failures” to official Israeli and international statistics about these issues.

Initial Analysis of B’Tselem/HaMoked Report on Children’s Detention in Jerusalem

B’Tselem and HaMoked published a joint report, “Unprotected: The Detention of Palestinian Teenagers in East Jerusalem.” NGO Monitor’s initial analysis reveals that these NGOs are participating in a well-funded international campaign against Israel surrounding the issue of children’s rights. The publication also suffers from fundamental methodological flaws, highlighting the appropriation of human rights for political objectives.
