Israeli Apartheid Week 2010: NGO Involvement

Israeli Apartheid Week (March 1-14, 2010), held in universities and major cities in the US, Canada, and Europe, will feature speakers from NGOs: Adalah (funded by NIF and EU), AIC (Sweden and Christian Aid), PCHR (EU, Oxfam NOVIB, OSI, Christian Aid), Addameer, Badil. A video by Breaking the Silence will be screened in Connecticut. Israeli Apartheid Week is endorsed by Canadian Arab Federation, Independent Jewish Voices, CODEPINK, Adalah-NY, and others.

Promoting Israel's Isolation: Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands funding for NDC and NGOs

The NGO Development Center (NDC - Ramallah) has distributed $6 million to 25 NGOs on behalf of Switzerland, Sweden, Netherlands, and Denmark. The NGO grantees include some of the most radical groups operating in Israel and the Palestinian Authority. Many of the recipients employ apartheid rhetoric and promote war crimes cases against Israeli officials, and some are active members in the Palestinian BDS movement. NDC facilitated and funded the Palestinian NGO Code of Conduct which demands that Palestinian groups reject any normalization activities with the occupier.

HRW Plays Prominent Role at UN Mini-Durban Conference

On July 22-24, 2009, the UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People held an NGO conference to discuss questions related to Israeli violations of international humanitarian law. Participants included Palestinian NGOs such as Badil, PCHR, and Al Haq, as well as Human Rights Watch and Israeli NGOs PHR-I, Keshev, and Adalah. HRW promoted the campaign to prevent Israel from purchasing weapons and demanded on-going international pressure on Israel. One speaker accused Jews of buying everything and controlling a global machine, money. Most NGO representatives expressed support for lawfare cases.

A Clouded EU Presidency: Swedish Funding for NGO Rejectionism

On July 1, 2009, Sweden will assume the presidency of the European Union. Swedens role in funding numerous NGOs that pursue radical political agendas, including rejecting any form of normalization with Israel, fuels the conflict.
