[Excerpt:]

"Amnesty International’s Kate Allen asserts (Letters, October 17) that there is "no evidence" for NGO Monitor’s claims of her organizations disproportionate focus on Israel. However the facts speak for themselves. NGO Monitor’s review of AI’s reports and publications in 2007 employed both quantitative and qualitative analysis clearly demonstrating that Amnesty condemned Israel more that Syria, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Lebanon and Algeria. More items were published by AI in 2007 on Israel than on Hamas, Hizbollah and the Palestinian Authority combined. The result is a major human-rights organisation which focuses its attacks on the Middle East’s only genuine democracy instead of some the region’s most oppressive regimes. We will continue to expose double standards in the work of AI and other organisations which are inconsistent with the core principles of universal human rights."
