Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) are hosting a 2014 “BDS Summer Institute” student leadership training course, August 10-14 in Northern California.
The Student Leadership Training (SLT) is “a five day intensive program focused on building skills for divestment campaigns. It will be co-led by student participants and BDS movement leaders”.
According to JVP, “SLT is for student activists who wants to deepen their skills at: Building the base of support on campus for BDS!”; “Researching corporate targets and university endowments!”; “Growing & sustaining your group for the long haul!”, as well as those who are “considering launching a campaign in the future, or are on [their] way to a victory”.
In July 2013, JVP and AFSC hosted a similar “BDS Summer Institute” in Stony Point, NY.
JVP considers itself the “Jewish wing of the Palestinian solidarity movement” and seeks to create “a wedge” within the American Jewish community over support for Israel, while working toward the goal of eliminating U.S. economic, military, and political aid.
JVP funding sources are largely unavailable, reflecting a lack of transparency and accountability.
