The ongoing government funding for NGOs that engage in antisemitic activities and utilize antisemitic rhetoric highlights the persistent double standard: Hatred of Jews is tolerated in a way that would be unthinkable for other racial, ethnic, or religious groups.
By refusing to seriously address the politicization of The Lancet and the antisemitism of some of its authors, the medical journal and its editor Richard Horton have demonized the Israeli medical community and the Jewish people.
Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) promotes a polarizing anti-Israel narrative under the guise of medical expertise and facts.
Yitzhak Santis asserts that if Lancet editor Richard Horton is serious about making amends, he should take serious steps that would signal a tangible policy change by The Lancet and its publisher, Reed Elsevier.
Hortons editorial in this weeks Lancet marks another step towards ending the exploitation of this journal for demonizing Israel. At the same time, however, Horton failed to retract or apologize for his own central responsibility for the mendacious An Open Letter for the People of Gaza in July 2014.
NGO Monitor calls for The Lancets Open Letter for the People of Gaza to be removed from its website immediately and for Editor Richard Horton to issue a formal retraction and apology, both on the website and the next hard copy issue.
NGO Monitors research demonstrates that, under Richard Hortons editorship, The Lancet has become a platform for intense political propaganda, particularly targeting Israel.
