Founded in 1990 to “to enhance the capacity of the community in dealing with mental health problems based on the principles of justice, humanity, and respect for human rights”

Sponsors workshops, public meetings, and therapeutic programs on issues of mental health and human rights
Politically biased, attributes social problems in Gaza only to the Israeli “occupation,” and ignores intra-Palestinian violence and corruption
Involved in political campaigning: has signed petitions for economic and academic boycotts of Israel and on November 12, 2005, GCMHP hosted a delegation of European Parliamentarians and described to them the “psychological violence” waged by Israel in Gaza and claimed that “the disengagement was a mirage to be consumed by the Western Media.”
Board of Advisors includes Ruchama Marton, founder of Physicians for Human Rights- Israel.
